samhain / day of the dead
Celebrating the long nights, the Ancestors, and the transistion from one world into the other.
With the last harvest everything that lived on the land has died and will become part of the earth again. Samhain marks the beginning of the dark half of the year, when the night are long and the light scarce, when the world retreats into itself and becomes quiet and cold. From now on, underneath the fallen leaves, life will slowly start to slumber in preparation for spring. The old Celtic calender marks Samhain as the beginning of the new year.
